Detroit Woman Killed By Stranger In Downtown Alley

A woman in her early thirties was fatally stabbed in a dark alleyway in downtown Detroit on Sunday afternoon. She was simply taking a break from work when the terrible crime unfolded. The violent act took place near the Chipotle restaurant on Woodward Avenue around 2:30 p.m., a spot known for its busy foot traffic.

From behind, a man approached her, drew a knife, and slashed her body many times. She managed to scramble toward a nearby shop and collapsed outside. The attacker then bolted through the narrow alley. A staff member at the shop spotted him wielding a weapon and gave chase, but he slipped away before officers could reach him.

Detroit police turned to city cameras and other surveillance tools to track the suspect approximately twenty minutes later. They finally apprehended him. The man did not carry the actual blade used in the assault, yet investigators suspect the weapon has already been recovered and is undergoing analysis. Officials have not yet determined if the victim and perpetrator had any prior connection, and they remain focused on gathering more evidence.
