Dinosaur Drama Delivers Big Numbers
The new dinosaur movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, has surprised everyone by making a lot of money in its first week. It earned over $318 million worldwide, which is way more than the $260 million that experts thought it would make.
A Smart Release Date
The movie came out in the US on July 2nd, right before the Fourth of July weekend. That's a smart move because more people go to the movies during holidays. In just five days, it made:
- $147 million in the US and Canada
- $171 million in the rest of the world
A New Cast, Big Stars
The studio, Universal, wasn't sure how well this movie would do because it has a new cast, including big stars like:
- Scarlett Johansson
- Mahershala Ali
- Jonathan Bailey
They thought it might make around $100 million to $120 million in North America and a bit more overseas. But the movie did better than expected! Some critics liked it a lot. One critic even gave it four stars, saying it was fun and exciting with lots of dinosaur action.
Lower Budget, Higher Profits?
The movie didn't cost as much to make as the previous ones in the series. It had a budget of $180 million, which is much less than the $845 million spent on the last two movies. That means the movie has a better chance of making a profit.
However, it didn't make as much money as the other Jurassic World movies during their opening weekends. For example, the first Jurassic World movie made $208 million in 2015, which is a lot more than the $91.5 million Rebirth made over the weekend.
