Disneyland Plans New Shopping Hub on Toy Story Lot

Anaheim, CA, USASat May 16 2026
Disneyland is filing private building permits with the City of Anaheim for a new outdoor shopping area on the Toy Story parking lot, part of its $1. 9 billion DisneylandForward plan. The permits cover two addresses on Katella Avenue, located just north of the Toy Story lot and opposite the Anaheim Gardenwalk mall. The project is still in early review, so details may change as plans develop. The Toy Story lot currently spans roughly 1, 000 feet along Katella Avenue between the Riviera and Anaheim Islander motels on the west side, and the Avis rental car and Hampton Inn hotel on the east. Disneyland aims to transform this space into a Disney‑Springs‑style complex, featuring shops, restaurants and entertainment.
One proposed restaurant is Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, inspired by a similar venue at Walt Disney World. The new development would also include hotels and retail to complement the nearby Anaheim Convention Center, creating a mixed‑use entertainment district on the park’s east side. Concept drawings show a central lagoon surrounded by boutiques and a low‑rise hotel with parking on the corner of Katella Avenue and Haster Street. A multi‑story garage is planned for 250 W. Katella Ave. , wrapping around the Hampton Inn, while a long, low‑profile building at 350 W. Katella Ave. would face the dining and retail zone. These plans reflect Disneyland’s broader goal of expanding its footprint beyond rides, offering guests a more integrated experience that blends leisure, shopping and lodging. The project remains in the early stages of city review, meaning changes are possible before construction begins.
