Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Gets a New Bride with a Different Story

Anaheim, USASun Jan 19 2025
Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is getting a new bride in the attic, and she's not the axe-wielding Black Widow you might remember. This ghostly figure, dressed in a flowing gown with a beating red heart, is now a mournful bride. She's traded her murderous past for a sad tale of lost love. Instead of beheading her husbands for their fortunes, she's now seen as a lovesick woman grieving over the loss of her many spouses. The new bride will appear in the attic scene using projection technology, levitating in front of a shattered window while holding a candelabra. Riders will hear her heartbeat and see the flickering candles as they pass through. The attic will also feature portraits of her past grooms, which will slowly vanish, leaving their fates up to the imagination. Disney Imagineers designed the new bride to look more grief-stricken, reflecting a story that's more about heartache than horror. This change is a nod to the original idea behind the attic bride, which was about a woman mourning her husbands. The Hitchhiking Ghosts imagery in the ride's finale has also been updated. This new bride and the changes to the ride mark the return of the Haunted Mansion after its annual holiday overlay.
