Doctor Defends Care Amid Legal Battle
El Paso, USAFri Jan 10 2025
A doctor from El Paso, Dr. Hector Granados, was recently sued by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The lawsuit alleges that Granados provided puberty blockers and hormones to minors for gender transition, which is now illegal in Texas. Granados denies these allegations, claiming he always follows the law. He stopped providing this sort of care after Texas Senate Bill 14 passed last year. Granados is one of only two pediatric endocrinologists in El Paso County, and many of his patients have other health concerns like diabetes and thyroid issues. The lawsuit was filed in Kaufman County, over 650 miles away from El Paso. Granados' lawyer has filed motions to move the case to El Paso and to dismiss it entirely. The lawsuit has caused concerns among parents about their children's future medical care.
