Doctor\'s flashy life hides big fraud claims

Covina, California, USAFri Apr 03 2026
A California psychiatrist now facing serious fraud charges once loved showing off his glamorous life online. At 66, Gladwin Gill and his wife Amelou were recently arrested in a major federal operation called “Never Say Die. ” Prosecutors say they tricked Medicare into paying $5. 2 million for hospice services that were never really needed or even given. While running this scheme, Gill kept posting pictures with famous people like Mario Lopez, George Clooney, and even former President George W. Bush. One photo shows him grinning on a red carpet next to sports agent Leigh Steinberg at a Super Bowl party in 2022. Strangely, that same year federal agents searched his property over similar fraud suspicions. Yet nothing came of it then.
Public reaction online was harsh. Many called him names and accused him of stealing money. One person wrote about being owed over a million dollars, while another claimed Gill took more than that from them. These angry messages show how deeply some people felt betrayed by his actions. The arrest happened early Thursday at the couple’s multi-million dollar home in Covina. Officers had to cut through the front gate to get inside. Inside, they found luxury cars and a house surrounded by palm trees. Police say the couple used the stolen money for big expenses like mortgages, cars, international trips, fancy restaurants, and other personal bills. Their next court date is this afternoon at the U. S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles. If convicted, they could face serious consequences for what prosecutors call a long-running fraud operation.
