Economic Anxiety: Americans Worry About Prices and Jobs

People in the U. S. are feeling less sure about the economy. This is the lowest confidence level since April when new taxes on imports were introduced. The measure of how people feel about their money and jobs stayed the same but is still low. This could mean a recession is coming. People think the economy is worse now than before. They are worried about prices going up and the new taxes. They also think it's harder to find jobs. The number of people who think jobs are easy to find went down. More people think jobs are hard to get.The country added some jobs last month but lost more the month before. The unemployment rate went up to 4. 6%, the highest since 2021. Businesses are not hiring much because of the new taxes and high interest rates. The head of the Federal Reserve thinks the numbers might be even worse. Even though people are worried, fewer think a recession will happen soon. People feel worse about their money now but are more hopeful about the future.
