Everyone’s talking about Elon Musk's new idea for a Tesla charging station in California. It’s a blend of retro and futuristic, like a scene from “Grease” mixed with “The Jetsons. ” Located near the Sunset Strip and Route 66, this unique spot aims to be more than just a place to charge your electric vehicle (EV). It's designed to be an experience.
Imagine this: a metallic, sphere-shaped diner where you can eat while your EV gets a full charge. Tesla has been busy working on this project, obtaining permits for installing plumbing, an elevator, and even reconfiguring the parking lot. They've been advertising for “experience specialists” too, who will show movies and serve food.
The job pays well, with roles like a “pre-opening” program developer potentially earning up to $285, 000. This charging station is set to reinvent the traditional gas station, turning it into a multi-faceted experience. Once completed, it will feature two movie screens, around 30 EV supercharging stations, and a 24-hour restaurant with rooftop seating.
Elon Musk first proposed this idea back in 2018 and has since shared more details. The movie screens will play short films designed to last as long as it takes to fully charge an EV, about 30 minutes. Tesla hasn’t said much publicly about the venue on Santa Monica Blvd. , but the plans submitted to city officials reveal the details.
Architect Ed Howard also shared his vision of what a Tesla diner and drive-in could look like. Tesla’s stock jumped over 20% after Musk told investors to expect a significant growth in deliveries this fiscal year. They also expect to deliver over 515, 000 vehicles in the fourth quarter, exceeding analysts’ predictions.
