Endeavour Stands Tall: New Space Center Opens Soon

Reservations for the new air and space center open to the public on October 21 at 9:30 a.m. Members get a head start on October 16 at the same time. The system will allow up to 19 tickets per entry slot. Larger groups need to book through a separate group process.

The expansion adds 200,000 square feet and nearly doubles the museum’s exhibit space. It will showcase more than 100 aerospace artifacts and 100 interactive science exhibits. The star attraction is the shuttle Endeavour displayed upright with real solid rocket boosters and the last flight‑qualified external tank.

Three multilevel galleries will organize the collection: the Shuttle Gallery, the Aviation Gallery, and the Space Gallery. This marks the final phase of a thirty‑year master plan for the institution. The doors open to visitors on November 13 at 10 a.m. General admission remains free, but a four‑dollar reservation fee applies unless you are a member.

The project has raised over 415 million dollars toward a 450 million dollar goal. Endeavour arrived in Los Angeles in 2012 and traveled through city streets to the museum where it once lay horizontal. Now visitors can see it in a launch‑ready pose that mirrors its position on the pad.
