Enhancements Hit Alan Wake 2: PS5 Pro Gets a Boost

Remedy Entertainment Headquarters, Espoo, FinlandMon Dec 16 2024
Recently, Remedy Entertainment rolled out a new patch for Alan Wake 2, focusing heavily on improvements for the PlayStation 5 Pro version. The patch, version 1. 27, comes after Digital Foundry highlighted issues with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) when the game was launched in November. The developer promised fixes a few weeks later, and they've now delivered. The patch includes a new "Balanced" graphics mode for PS5 Pro. This mode combines quality features like raytracing with performance settings, targeting a 40fps rate but requiring displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. There are also tweaks to enhance the consistency of the framerate in Performance mode and to reduce noise in raytracing settings for both Quality and Balanced modes. Additionally, users can now toggle PSSR on or off. This update isn't just for PS5 Pro users. PC and Xbox Series S|X owners will also see minor fixes, such as corrected manuscript collectibles and audio issues in "The Lake House" DLC. Alan Wake 2, launched on October 27, 2023, garnered excellent reviews, but sales haven't quite matched expectations. Despite releasing two planned story DLCs, the game has only sold 1. 8 million units, still not enough to cover development and marketing costs.
