Over the years, Villavicencio's micro-basins have witnessed various social and environmental conflicts. These conflicts stem from the practices of social actors, who engage in socio-economic and cultural activities that influence the use of natural resources. The processes of territorialization in these areas are interconnected within a geo-social-historical framework. The underlying issue is the economic development model, which has led to numerous environmental problems. This model has altered the natural ecosystems and their resources, replacing native plants with economically exploited crops. This change has negatively impacted soil stability, particularly due to the use of pesticides, resulting in infertile lands and a shift in the land's purpose.
The study of these conflicts involved analyzing maps and following a structured approach. The first phase was identifying the unit of analysis, specifically delineating the Zuria biological corridor. The next step was consolidating geographic information over time using the Corine Land Cover methodology to classify vegetation cover. The study then analyzed this information through graphical outputs for the years 1992, 2002, 2007, and 2012. This analysis described, categorized, and compared the characteristics of the land cover over these periods.
