ESPN Analyst Speaks at Pro‑Business Fundraiser Despite Claiming No Politics

Kirk Herbstreit, a well‑known ESPN commentator, recently appeared at a fundraiser in Alabama. He has often said he does not get involved in politics. The event took place on October 21 in Ross Bridge.

The gathering was hosted by the Business Council of Alabama, a powerful pro‑business organization. The council uses money from such events to support candidates it prefers. Its leader said the group has become more strategic and engaged this cycle.

The day after the fundraiser, the council’s political action committee donated over one hundred fifty thousand dollars to Senator Tommy Tuberville’s campaign. The council has endorsed Tuberville for governor among other races. The contribution was first reported by a sports news site.

Herbstreit’s name does not appear in state campaign finance records as a donor. His manager did not respond to requests for comment. Representatives for the council and its PAC also stayed silent.
