EU and US: Trade Talks in a Tizzy

The EU and US are in a bit of a pickle. They've been trying to sort out a trade deal, but things aren't moving as fast as hoped. The US had set a deadline, but it came and went without a deal. Now, they're saying a deal could happen any day.
The US president mentioned that they're close to sending a letter to the EU, which might mean a deal is in the works. He also said that talks with the EU have gotten better lately. That's a change from before, when he often complained about the trade relationship.
Trade between the EU and US is huge, worth around 1. 68 trillion euros last year. The EU sells more goods to the US than it buys, but it buys more services, so the overall trade is pretty even.
The US commerce secretary said the EU has made some good offers. He thinks the president is considering them. The EU is likely to agree to a 10% tariff, with some exceptions. That's much lower than the 50% the US president wanted at one point.
The EU's leader was careful in her response. She said they're sticking to their principles and preparing for all outcomes. An expert pointed out that the tariff affects US businesses and customers more than European ones.
