Everglades Airboat Mishap: Youth Football Team’s Florida Trip Turns Tragic

Last week, a troubling incident unfolded in Florida’s Everglades. Two airboats carrying members of a Bay Area youth football and cheer team, along with their parents, collided during a tour. This event left several people injured, casting a shadow over their trip to the American Youth Football & Cheer National Championships. The crash took place near Ochopee, involving a 24-foot Alumitech airboat with 13 passengers and a 25-foot airboat with 20 passengers. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is currently investigating the incident. In total, 16 people were hospitalized, and 24 were injured. As of Saturday morning, all injured individuals were reported to be in stable condition. However, some parents faced a long road to recovery. The tour operator, Wooten’s Everglades Airboat Tours, expressed their sympathies and assured cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
