Everton Fans May Wait Until 2025 for New Owners
Liverpool, United KingdomWed Oct 30 2024
Everton fans might be in for a long wait if they're hoping for new owners to take over soon. A financial expert, Stefan Borson, who once worked with Manchester City, says the Toffees could be looking at 2025 before a new consortium steps in. Farhad Moshiri took charge in 2016, but the team's performance hasn't been great under his leadership. There's talk of Dan Friedkin, the current Roma owner, joining the club, but Borson suggests we shouldn't hold our breath.
Everton's recent form has improved under Sean Dyche, and they've picked up points in their last five games. This means they might not need to rush spending money on new players just yet. Upcoming games against Southampton and West Ham could boost their points further, putting them clear of the relegation zone. So, while new signings are always welcome, the pressure isn't as high right now.
Borson believes it'll be tough for Friedkin to step in by January, even though talks with Moshiri are moving fast. The Premier League approval process could take some time, and there are other issues to sort out too. Even if things speed up, it's looking unlikely that Friedkin will be at the helm by the start of the next transfer window.
