Evo, the famous fighting game tournament, is getting a makeover. NODWIN Gaming, a big name in esports, just bought Sony's share in Evo. But don't worry, Sony is still sticking around as a sponsor until 2028. They're bringing their PlayStation Tournaments platform to the table.
NODWIN Gaming isn't new to the esports scene. They're big in South Asia and want to make Evo bigger and better. They plan to keep Evo's roots but also bring in new fans from all over the world.
Qiddiya, a Saudi Arabian entertainment group, is also stepping up. They're investing in RTS, one of Evo's co-owners, and extending their partnership until 2027. This means more opportunities and growth for the fighting game community.
Evo has been growing fast. Last year, their Las Vegas event had players from over 60 countries playing 16 different games. Evo Japan also broke records in 2024. And guess what? Evo is coming to Europe this October in Nice, France. Singapore is also getting its first Evo event in 2027.
Rick Thiher, Evo's General Manager, says these new partnerships will help Evo do more than just tournaments. They're planning original content and more exciting live experiences. The goal is to keep Evo as the go-to place for fighting game culture.
