Exercise's Quick Impact on Blood Pressure in Tough Cases
Sat Jan 18 2025
We know that exercise helps people with high blood pressure, but what about those who have tough-to-treat cases? This study looked into how short bursts of moderate and intense exercise affect blood pressure right after exercise and over a whole day.
Researchers checked out two types of workouts: moderate-intensity continuous exercise (MICE) and high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE). They wanted to see how these workouts changed blood pressure in people with resistant hypertension. This is a type of high blood pressure that's hard to control with medicines.
The results showed that both types of exercise could lower blood pressure, but in different ways. MICE seemed to help more with lowering blood pressure over the long term, while HIIE had a bigger immediate effect.
This study is a step forward in understanding how exercise can help people with really tough high blood pressure cases. It also highlights the importance of finding the right type of exercise for each person.
But remember, this study only looked at short-term effects. More research is needed to see how these exercises help over a longer period. Also, it's always important to talk to a doctor before starting any new exercise routine, especially if you have health issues.
