Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, has spilled the beans on the company's plans in his recent LinkedIn post. He's talking up big changes in the gaming world. One huge move is that Microsoft's games are now showing up on more devices than ever before. Since buying Activision Blizzard King, they've added a ton of new players to their crew. We're talking about big-time games like Candy Crush, Diablo, and even Halo. Plus, with Xbox cloud gaming, people can play their favorite games anytime, anywhere. Lately, they've started sharing some of their popular titles with Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation users too. This isn't just a one-time thing; Microsoft seems ready to keep expanding.
Back in February, Microsoft decided to bring some of their games to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch for the first time. Games like Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded made the jump. Microsoft's gaming boss, Phil Spencer, said they needed to find new ways to attract players and keep the gaming industry growing. Later, they announced that the new Indiana Jones game would also be available on PlayStation 5 just a few months after its release on PC and Xbox.
This change in strategy isn't a total surprise. During a trial where the FTC went head-to-head with Microsoft, Nadella said he wouldn't mind doing away with console exclusives. But since Sony, the big player in the console market, uses exclusives to stay on top, that's the game they have to play. So, true Xbox exclusives might become a rare sight. Microsoft wants to get their games on as many devices as possible, including competitor consoles and mobile, to grow and reach more players.
