Exploring How Exercise Affects Sleep in Older People in Ghana

GhanaTue Dec 17 2024
Did you know that doing simple exercises can greatly enhance how well you sleep? In Ghana, researchers looked into how regular physical activity affects sleep quality in adults who are 50 years or older. They found that exercise can improve sleep, but a few things like pain, feeling lonely, or feeling anxious can also play a role. Older people who were more active tended to sleep better. But if they felt pain or were anxious, it could affect their sleep quality. The same went for feeling lonely. It seems that physical activity has a direct impact on sleep, but how you feel emotionally and physically can also make a big difference. The study highlighted that in low- and middle-income countries, there's not much information on this topic. So, this research helps fill that gap, showing how important it is for older adults to stay active and take care of their mental health for better sleep.
