In September 2024, a TikTok video by @frazierpollard went viral. It said the FBI raided Oprah Winfrey's home because of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs' arrest in sex trafficking charges. The video got lots of attention with over 155,000 reactions and many shares and comments within a day. But this story wasn't true. There was no evidence to support the claim, and nothing about it was reported in the press. You might remember a similar rumor from 2020. At that time, people said Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, and other famous people were under house arrest for being involved in sex trafficking. This false claim spread quickly on social media platforms like X, Facebook, and YouTube. A video with over 14 million views made the claims even bigger by involving more prominent names. Oprah herself had to clear things up on her X account. She said she hadn't been raided or arrested and was just following safety guidelines like everyone else during the pandemic. Many people, including filmmaker Ava DuVernay, supported Oprah and blamed AI and trolls for spreading false information. In September 2024, Diddy was arrested on serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He denies all allegations but more people are coming forward with stories of abuse by him and his associates. Experts believe he used his famous friends to hide his wrongdoings.
