Fast Pair on Google TV: Why It's Still a Rare Feature

Thu Jul 17 2025

Limited Availability

Fast Pair on Google TV is not as widely available as one might expect. Introduced in early 2022, it's still not on many devices. This feature is designed to make pairing headphones with Google TV easier.

Slow Rollout

It was only in January 2024 that Google announced Fast Pair would come to Chromecast. However, it didn't extend to many other Google TV devices. It turns out that Fast Pair is optional for each device, meaning each device needs to be updated separately to support it.

Current Support

Only four Google TV devices currently support Fast Pair:

  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • Chromecast with Google TV (HD)
  • Google TV Streamer
  • Walmart Onn 4K Plus

Google has indicated that more devices might get this feature in the future.

A Puzzling Situation

It's strange that Fast Pair is not on more devices. It's a useful feature that makes pairing headphones easier. Hopefully, more devices will get this feature soon. For now, it's a bit of a mystery why it's not more widely available.
