Fast Pair on Google TV: Why It's Still a Rare Feature
Thu Jul 17 2025
Fast Pair on Google TV is not as widely available as one might expect. It was first introduced in early 2022, but it's still not on many devices. This feature is supposed to make pairing headphones with Google TV easier. It was supposed to work on many devices, but it hasn't happened yet.
It was only in January 2024 that Google said Fast Pair would come to Chromecast. But even then, it didn't come to many other Google TV devices. It turns out that Fast Pair is optional for each device. This means that each device needs to be updated separately to support it.
Only four Google TV devices currently support Fast Pair. These are the Chromecast with Google TV, the Chromecast with Google TV (HD), the Google TV Streamer, and the Walmart Onn 4K Plus. Google says that more devices might get this feature in the future.
It's strange that Fast Pair is not on more devices. It's a useful feature that makes pairing headphones easier. Hopefully, more devices will get this feature soon. For now, it's a bit of a mystery why it's not more widely available.
