Father and Son Team Up for a Family Drama
LondonWed Oct 02 2024
This: Daniel Day-Lewis, one of the greatest actors of our time, is stepping back into the spotlight after a five-year hiatus. But he's not doing it alone. His son, Ronan Day-Lewis, is both directing and co-writing the film called Anemone. This will be Daniel's first role since he announced his retirement in 2017.
Ronan, who's also a skilled painter, is making his debut as a director with this movie. Anemone is all about the complicated bonds between family members—fathers and sons, brothers, you name it. Joining Daniel on screen are actors like Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green.
Two big names in film production, Focus Features and Plan B, are collaborating to make this project happen. The script, written by both Day-Lewises, has already won praise from Focus Features' chairman, Peter Kujawski. Behind the camera, you'll find Ben Fordesman as the director of photography, Jane Petrie handling costumes, and Chris Oddy in charge of production design.
Anemone promises to be a unique film experience, thanks to the Day-Lewis duo and their talented team. It will surely make us think about our own family dynamics in new ways.
