Federline’s $40K Child Support Gone, Massive Debt Follows After Payments End

Los Angeles, California, USASat Oct 31 2026

Kevin Federline admitted he quickly spent the money meant for his children. After his split from Britney Spears in 2007 he received $20,000 each month for two sons. A decade later the amount rose to $40,000 when his custodial time grew. The payment fell again after his oldest turned 18 in 2023.

In his memoir he said the cash vanished almost as soon as it arrived. He described the cost of housing and security for Sean Preston, 21, and Jayden, 20, in Los Angeles as staggering. The boys were used to a luxurious lifestyle that easily ate up the five‑figure monthly sum. Federline insisted he was not idle; he claimed he was working, investing and building a foundation for his family.

Payments from Spears stopped in November 2024. That month Federline signed an agreement with City National Bank. Court papers show he now owes at least $117,704 across a credit card, a line of credit and an overdraft. The lawsuit includes interest rates of 20.5% on the credit card, 7.5% on the line of credit and 18% on the overdraft. He was given deadlines: the credit card due in August 2026, the overdraft line in April 2025 and the line of credit in June 2025.

Bank of America also took action, filing a suit for $12,186.64 in February. The case was dismissed with prejudice in June after Federline paid the amount. His attorney has not commented on the situation. The legal battles highlight how quickly large sums can lead to serious financial trouble.
