Festive Fun at Riverside Theatre: A Holiday Tradition
Vero Beach, Florida, USAMon Nov 17 2025
Riverside Theatre has long been a hub for holiday cheer on the Treasure Coast. For many years, the Festival of Trees/Winterfest marked the start of the festive season. This event brought together families, artists, and community members to celebrate the holidays in style.
The festival was a feast for the eyes, with beautifully decorated trees and wreaths adorning the space. These creations were the result of hard work by professionals, organizations, and volunteers. The trees were auctioned off to raise funds for youth education programs, making the event both festive and meaningful.
Children and adults alike could enjoy the festivities. There were student performances, children's activities, and even gingerbread houses to admire. The event was inclusive, offering something for everyone. In its later years, Winterfest included an artificial ice skating rink and craft areas, making it a hit with the younger crowd.
The festival was held the weekend before Thanksgiving for many years. However, it was canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic and later moved to the first weekend in December. While Winterfest is not planned for 2025, there are other exciting performances to look forward to. Riverside Theatre for Kids will be performing Disney's Alice in Wonderland JR. in November, and Ballet Vero Beach will present Nutcracker on the Indian River in December.
These performances offer a taste of the magic that Riverside Theatre is known for. Tickets for both shows are affordably priced at $10, making them accessible for all. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, these events are a great way to experience the community's holiday spirit.
