Florida Governor Fires Back at Harris Over Hurricane Response

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had some strong words for Vice President Kamala Harris after she criticized his response to Hurricane Milton. DeSantis insisted that Harris doesn't understand how to handle natural disasters and accused her of playing politics. He pointed out that Harris has no role in Florida's hurricane recovery process and hadn't reached out to him during previous storms under either President Biden or former President Trump.
Harris had attempted to contact DeSantis after Hurricane Helene hit Florida last month, but his staff reportedly declined the call. Later, Harris criticized DeSantis for not taking her call, saying it was "irresponsible and selfish" during an emergency. DeSantis responded that he wasn't aware of her call attempts and that her focus should be on the people in need, not on politics.
Over 3. 4 million Floridians lost power due to Milton, and DeSantis has been working to manage the fallout from two brutal hurricanes. President Biden has commended DeSantis' efforts and said he had given Florida everything it asked for. During a phone call between the two, Biden promised continued federal support as state officials assess the damage.
