Ford is sending out a new adapter today, allowing Ford electric vehicle owners to charge up at Tesla Supercharger stations. This new model is a replacement for the previous adapter that had some issues. Ford teamed up with Lectron, a big name in EV chargers, to create this new adapter. Earlier this year, Ford drivers got access to Tesla's charging network, but their cars needed an adapter because the charging ports weren't compatible. Ford promised a free adapter by June 2024, but they had to recall it when they found a problem that could slow down charging and even damage the port.
Now, Ford is sending out the new adapter and didn't mention the issue with the old one in their announcement. Other carmakers like Nissan and GM also have deals with Tesla to use their chargers. Tesla's network is huge, with over 19, 000 Superchargers in the US alone and over 62, 000 worldwide.
