Former Teacher Faces New Charges After Arrest
Columbia, SC, USAWed Apr 15 2026
A 29‑year‑old former social studies teacher in South Carolina was taken into custody on February 10th. The arrest stemmed from allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor, including claims that he promoted the child’s prostitution and conspired with others.
Shortly after his detainment, state officials added two new accusations: exposing a person to HIV. These charges came after an investigation that started earlier in the year and involved two underage victims, though details remain scarce.
The teacher had been employed at Lower Richland High School before resigning on the day of his arrest. The state’s education department reacted quickly, suspending his teaching license and warning that he could endanger students.
Prior to this role, the individual taught at Johnakin Middle School and Southeast Middle School. He now remains in custody at the Marion County Detention Center, where he is not eligible for bail.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about safeguarding children in educational settings and the importance of swift action when allegations arise.
