Fort Collins 2025: Who's Funding the Election?
Fort Collins, USASat Oct 25 2025
The Fort Collins 2025 election is heating up, with over $300, 000 raised so far. But where is all this money coming from? Let's take a closer look.
Most candidates have received the majority of their funds from local residents. However, there are some notable exceptions. For instance, one candidate had all their contributions come from within Fort Collins, while another only had a quarter from local sources.
The mayoral race is the most expensive so far, with over $94, 000 raised. District 1 follows with over $40, 000, and District 5 has raised over $25, 000. District 3 is lagging behind with just $20, 000.
But it's not just the candidates who are raising money. Ballot items are also bringing in big bucks. Over $110, 000 has been raised for various issues, with more than $75, 000 going towards Hughes ballot questions 2H and 303.
There are also limits to how much individuals can contribute. For mayoral candidates, the cap is $200, while council candidates have a $150 limit. However, there's no limit for issue committees.
Let's take a look at some of the candidates and where their money is coming from. Tricia Canonico, for example, has raised $49, 343, with 58% coming from Fort Collins residents. Adam Eggleston, on the other hand, has raised $4, 239, all from local sources.
In the District 1 race, Chris Conway has raised $25, 425, with 65% from Fort Collins. Susan Gutowsky has raised $11, 770, with 85% from local residents. Daisy Montgomery has raised the least, with $2, 906, but still, 79% came from within Fort Collins.
The District 3 race sees Josh Fudge with $5, 500, 71% from local sources. Lance Smith is funding his own campaign, while Steve Yurash has raised $13, 245, with 94% from Fort Collins.
In District 5, Amy Hoeven has raised $17, 783, with 95% from local residents. Zoelle Lane has raised $7, 597, but only 25% came from Fort Collins.
Issue committees are also playing a big role. Friends of Hughes Natural Area has raised $23, 499, with 97% from local sources. Hughes for Everyone has raised $51, 778, with 97% from Fort Collins. Yes to Natural Areas has raised $34, 782, with 93% from local residents.
The New Era Colorado Action Fund has also raised $4, 655, all from themselves, to support three candidates.
