Four NFL Teams Who Made the Most of the 2025 Draft
Foxborough, Massachusetts, USAMon Apr 28 2025
The 2025 NFL Draft is now history. It was a whirlwind of picks and trades. The draft is over, but the analysis is just beginning. Let's dive into the teams that really made the most of their opportunities. The New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Las Vegas Raiders all made some impressive moves.
The Patriots had a clear mission: bolster their quarterback's support. Mike Vrabel's first draft in New England was all about helping Drake Maye. They started strong with LSU's Will Campbell, an offensive lineman who quickly won over fans and his new quarterback. But the Patriots didn't stop there. They added a running back, a wide receiver, and more offensive line help. On the defensive side, they picked up three straight defenders on the final day. The Patriots' roster in Foxborough looks completely different and much improved.
The Carolina Panthers had a standout draft from start to finish. After Bryce Young's strong end to the 2024 season, the Panthers kicked off their draft with Tetairoa McMillan, a wide receiver who can create separation and win in the short and intermediate areas. But the Panthers really shined on Days 2 and 3. They traded up for two edge defenders, Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen, who complement each other perfectly. On Day 3, they added a running back, a tight end, and a defensive tackle who can all contribute right away. The Panthers might have had the best draft of all.
The Kansas City Chiefs showed why they're consistently at the top. They traded back and still got their top target, Ohio State's Josh Simmons. If his knee is healthy, Simmons is one of the best players in the class. The Chiefs added more depth and impact on defense with perfect schematic fits. They also picked up a wide receiver who can bring more juice to the receiver room. The Chiefs have a history of winning the draft, and this year was no different.
The Las Vegas Raiders made a strong start under Pete Carroll and John Spytek. They wanted to build an identity, and their picks helped solidify it. They got a running back who can also catch and break tackles. On Day 2, they added a wide receiver and two impressive linemen. On Day 3, they picked up a speedy receiver and a wide receiver from Montana State. The Raiders have taken a strong first step in building their identity.
The NFL Draft is always full of surprises and strategic moves. These four teams showed that they know how to make the most of their opportunities. They all have different needs and different approaches, but they all came out of the draft looking stronger. It's going to be an exciting season to see how these picks play out.
