They test-drove several models, including the Toyota BZ4X, Chevy Bolt, and Honda Prologue, but none compared to the Tesla Model Y. The Tesla offered better range, a superior charging network, and was more affordable. In late October, the driver ordered a Tesla Model Y for just under $38, 000, saving $2, 300 by retrieving it from Houston. The Tesla, nicknamed the "Hedonic Lexus, " is a digital marvel, a computer on wheels. It charges easily at home, offering significant cost savings. However, the buying process was a stark contrast to traditional dealerships, with Tesla offering a no-frills online experience. Insurance also proved challenging, with initial costs doubling due to a lack of a VIN. Despite these hiccups, the driver loves the Tesla's performance and smooth ride. Musk's politics don't factor into the driving experience, which is what truly matters.
