Caeleb Dressel, the 9-time Olympic gold medalist, recently took a break from his swimming career to indulge in a NASCAR outing at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. As an honorary event official, Dressel had the unique opportunity to experience the thrill of stock car racing. In an interview with SwimSwam's Mel Stewart, the 28-year-old swimmer shared his honest thoughts on his NASCAR adventure. After a disappointing stint at the Paris Olympics, Dressel spent quality time with his family and friends, enjoying the simple things in life. He savored a proper burger, spent time with his cows and dogs, and even mowed his lawn. This refreshing break from the competitive world of swimming allowed him to recharge and refocus.
Dressel's NASCAR experience was a first for him, and he appreciated the chance to be part of the event. He was accompanied by his wife, Meghan, and their son, August, as well as 1500m Olympic gold medalist Bobby Finke. The trio had a blast as they cheered on the drivers and enjoyed the electrifying atmosphere of the track. Despite his initial hesitation to be part of the NASCAR Suite, Dressel appreciated the unique experience and the hospitality of the event organizers. He even hinted at returning to the Daytona International Speedway in February for the Daytona 500.
