Wildlight Entertainment, the company behind the new game "Highguard, " has recently let go of several employees. This happened just a few weeks after their first game came out. The studio said they had to make this tough choice to keep a smaller team working on the game. They thanked the players who tried the game and those who keep playing. Wildlight was started by Dusty Welch and Chad Grenier. Most of the team used to work together at Electronic Arts on "Apex Legends. " They made "Highguard, " a competitive game where teams fight to control areas and destroy each other's bases. The game is played in teams of three, but they added a five-person team option after players asked for it.
"Highguard" has been compared to games like "Overwatch" and the now-closed "Concord. " The studio says they have a lot of content planned for the next year to keep players interested. They also said they are not going anywhere and will keep supporting the game. The number of people who lost their jobs was not shared. A spokesperson for Wildlight did not give more details. It's not clear why they had to let people go, but it's common for new game studios to face challenges after launching their first game.
