In Gaza, things are heating up. Israel recently hit two armed men near troops, killing one. This is just one of many tense moments in the region.
Eight countries, including Saudi Arabia and Turkey, are not happy about Israel's plan to partly open the Rafah Crossing. They think it's a bad idea and could cause problems. Israel wants to let people out of Gaza into Egypt, but won't let people come back in yet. They say this is because of delays in returning hostages' remains.
Meanwhile, the U. S. is working on a peace plan. President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will soon announce members of a new authority to manage Gaza. This group will oversee reconstruction and include leaders from the Middle East and the West. There will also be a team of Palestinian experts to handle day-to-day tasks in Gaza.
Canada has made some changes too. They removed Syria from their list of state sponsors of terrorism and took Hayat Tahrir al-Sham off their terrorist list. They say this is to support Syria's stability and fight terrorism.
In Gaza City, people are trying to rebuild Al-Shifa Hospital. But when videos of the repairs went online, some people claimed the hospital was never bombed. This is not true. The World Health Organization says repairs started in early 2024, even while fighting was still going on.
There's more tension in the West Bank. A Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces after leaving a mosque. In Lebanon, talks about a cease-fire are happening, but not everyone agrees with the plan. The Israeli military chief wants an investigation into the October 7 attacks, but won't call it a state inquiry.
In Israel, protests are moving to a new location, but organizers don't like it. The government has also approved a big budget for defense. U. S. Ambassador Mike Waltz is visiting Jordan and Israel to talk about aid and security. He will meet with leaders and visit key sites.
The Allenby crossing, which is important for bringing aid to Gaza, is still closed after an attack. International groups want it reopened so they can send more help to Gaza.
