George Santos: From Prison to Freedom

George Santos, the former U. S. Representative, is now a free man. President Donald Trump decided to shorten his prison time. Santos was supposed to spend over seven years behind bars for cheating people and stealing identities. But Trump changed that. Santos left prison late on Friday night. His family was there to welcome him back. Santos had been writing letters from prison. He talked about how tough it was inside. In one letter, he asked Trump for help. He said he had been loyal to Trump and the Republican Party. Trump listened. He said Santos' lies weren't that bad compared to others. Trump even mentioned a senator who lied about his military service. Santos had a lot of problems before prison. He lied about his job, his money, and even his background. He said he was Jewish, but he wasn't. He claimed he was a successful businessman, but he wasn't. People found out he wasn't telling the truth. He was kicked out of Congress. Then, he was sent to prison. Some people are happy Santos is free. Others think he should have stayed in prison longer. One politician said Santos should spend his life making things right. But for now, Santos is out. He doesn't have to pay any more fines or go on probation. Trump has helped other Republicans before. He pardoned two other politicians who had been in trouble. But Santos is different. Many people in his own party didn't like him. Still, Trump decided to help him.
