Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene supported the decision. She argued that Santos was treated unfairly. She even called solitary confinement torture. Santos admitted to several fraud crimes. He lied about campaign donations and misused donor money. He also falsely claimed unemployment benefits during the pandemic. As part of his plea deal, he agreed to pay back nearly $600, 000. Santos was expelled from Congress last year. He served less than a year in office. His actions led to his downfall, but now, he is free to return to his family and community.
