Gi-Hun's Final Choice: A Hero's Sacrifice in Squid Game
Los Angeles, USAFri Jun 27 2025
The last episode of Squid Game's final season is packed with intense moments, but the biggest shock comes early when the main character, Gi-Hun, meets his end. After two rounds of the deadly Sky Squid Game, only three players remain: Gi-Hun, Myung-gi, and a baby. The baby is Jun-hee's daughter, left in Gi-Hun's care, even though Myung-gi is the father.
Gi-Hun's goal is to protect the child, but Myung-gi wants to win at any cost. He threatens Gi-Hun, demanding the baby so he can leave Gi-Hun to die. Gi-Hun reluctantly hands over the child, but at the last moment, he jumps to fight Myung-gi. A brutal knife fight ensues, ending with both falling off the pillar. Gi-Hun barely hangs on, holding Myung-gi until he falls to his death.
But the game isn't over yet. Gi-Hun realizes neither he nor Myung-gi pressed the button to start the final round. This means Myung-gi's death doesn't count, and Gi-Hun must now choose between killing himself or the baby to end the game. After a long pause, Gi-Hun makes his choice. He puts down the baby and falls backward to his death, his final words hinting at the value of human life.
Gi-Hun's sacrifice saves the baby, who is declared the winner. In-ho, the Front Man, is moved by Gi-Hun's selflessness and takes the baby to safety. Meanwhile, the authorities are closing in, and the Squid Game facility is hastily packed up. In-ho's brother, Jun-ho, discovers In-ho's involvement and confronts him, but In-ho leaves with the baby.
Six months later, we see No-eul back at her old job, reuniting with Gyung-seok and his recovered daughter. No-eul learns her own daughter might be alive and heads to the airport. Kang Cheol is reunited with his mother, and Woo-seok is bailed out by Jun-ho. They wonder about the missing prize money from Gi-Hun's first win.
Jun-ho later finds the baby left at his doorstep, along with a bank card loaded with 45. 6 billion won. In the final scene, In-ho travels to Los Angeles to deliver Gi-Hun's belongings to his daughter, Seong Ga-yeong. She accepts the package, which contains Gi-Hun's uniform and a bank card with his winnings. In-ho leaves, spotting two people playing a twisted game of ddakji, hinting that the Squid Game's influence might not be over.
