Google Calendar is giving its web version a fresh coat of paint and finally introducing a dark mode. This update, which started rolling out this week, includes a new user interface with modern and accessible buttons, dialog boxes, and sidebars. The change is aimed at making your calendar experience smoother and easier on the eyes.
Don't worry if you haven't seen the update yet; it will be available to everyone soon, whether you use a personal Gmail account or a paid Google Workspace account. To turn on the dark mode, just click the settings icon in the top right corner of your Google Calendar and select “Appearance” from the drop-down menu. You can also choose to match your device’s theme or switch back to the light mode. Previously, getting dark mode on the web required third-party browser extensions, but Google warns that these might not work as expected with the new update. The focus is on a visual refresh, making the controls and dialog boxes look more modern.
