Google has been keeping a close eye on employees' election-related discussions. Ahead of the U. S. elections, Google executives sent out a warning to keep political chats off a popular internal forum called Memegen. Employees didn't quite listen, sharing election memes and criticizing company policies. Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, reminded everyone about Google's role in providing reliable information through services like Google Search and YouTube. This isn't the first time Google has tried to control internal talks; since 2019, they've had policies against insulting or debating colleagues.
Some employees think these rules are too strict. Recently, Google even shut down an internal message board because of comments about a contract with Israel. Back in 2019, the U. S. National Labor Board ordered Google to remind employees of their right to discuss work conditions. Google has chosen not to comment on the recent events.
