GOP Shifts Cash as Trump Eases Russian Diesel Rules
Republican outside groups are pulling millions in ad buys from two key House races. They cut spending in New Jersey's Tom Kean Jr. district and Iowa's Mariannette Miller-Meeks seat. The cash is being moved to other Iowa districts where the GOP is also on defense. This shows the party is playing more defense than offense.
Kean's district was always tough, Trump only won it by a point. Kean vanished for four months to get help for depression. Miller-Meeks barely won last time by six votes. Iowa is hurting from tariffs and the Iran conflict, making it harder for Republicans.
At the same time, Trump lifted sanctions on Russian diesel exports. He said it would lower fuel prices for farmers. Energy experts say Russian refineries can't handle the extra output. Senators from both parties say the move breaks a 2022 law. Ukraine and European allies are furious.
Zelenskyy pushed back hard, and Trump fired back, blaming Ukraine for the war. Trump even said Ukraine needs a new leader. Elon Musk, whose Starlink helps Ukraine, said Zelenskyy went too far. U.S. officials in Miami warned Ukrainian representatives about the shift.
