The 2025 Grammys are still happening on Feb. 2 at Crypto. com Arena, despite the wildfires that have hit Los Angeles. Other Grammy Week events, like the MusiCares Person of the Year event and the Special Merit Awards, might be affected. The Recording Academy and MusiCares CEOs, Harvey Mason Jr. and Tammy Hurt, said they’re working with local authorities to make sure the show is safe. They plan to use the Grammys to raise money for wildfire relief and honor first responders. The show will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Producers Ben Winston, Raj Kapoor, and Jesse Collins have a tough job: balancing an awards celebration with a serious topic. Some people think it’s not right to hold the show now. The Milk & Honey party was canceled because the founder thought it would be insensitive to celebrate.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares started a fire relief effort last week, giving $1 million to help music creatives. They’ve already given out over $2 million in aid. This is the third time in five years that the Grammys have been affected by outside events. The 2021 and 2022 shows were postponed due to COVID-19. The host for this year’s Grammys hasn’t been announced yet. Beyoncé leads the nominations with 11 nods. Charli XCX, Post Malone, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar are also top nominees.
