Contenders, dressed in eye-catching costumes, aim to snatch the championship title by besting their opponent in a two-minute wrestling match submerged in the savory brown condiment. The final winners are determined by a panel of four experienced judges, who evaluate their wrestling prowess and fancy dress costumes. As the wrestlers jump, flip, and slide on top of each other, they become increasingly covered in gravy, providing a spectacle of slippery hilarity. The winners, one from each category, receive a prize of $66 and a personalized trophy, while the event raises funds for the East Lancashire Hospice.
