Guns in Public: A Court Says California's Rules Break the Law

A big court in San Francisco just said California can't stop people from openly carrying guns in most places. The court said this rule goes against the part of the U. S. Constitution that protects the right to have and carry guns. The rule only let people in counties with fewer than 200, 000 people openly carry guns. That meant most people in California couldn't do it. But the court said this isn't fair and doesn't match the history of gun laws in the U. S. Two judges who were appointed by President Trump agreed with this. They said California's rule doesn't fit with a big Supreme Court decision from last year. That decision made it easier for people to carry guns in public.
The judges said that openly carrying guns has been a normal thing in America for a long time. They also said that California's reason for the rule—that it could cause panic—isn't a good enough reason to ban it. One judge disagreed. He said California can still let people carry guns, just not openly. He thinks the state can choose how people carry guns as long as they can carry them somehow. This all started when a man from Siskiyou County sued the state. He didn't like the rules about openly carrying guns. The court agreed with him on the ban but said the permit process is okay. California isn't happy about this. They said they will keep fighting to keep their gun rules.
