Gyeonggi's IP Invasion: Korea's Creative Content Hub Heads to Taiwan

Taipei, TaiwanWed Nov 06 2024
Taipei, Taiwan is about to get a big dose of Korean creativity as Gyeonggi Province sets up shop at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) from November 5 to 8. The province, known for its massive gaming industry, is bringing its A-game through the Gyeonggi Content Agency. They're not just showing off, though. They're signing a deal with Taiwan’s TAICCA to team up strategically. Gyeonggi Content Agency isn't just about the games. It's all about boosting the K-content industry and helping companies grow. At TCCF, they want to show off Gyeonggi as the heart of K-content creativity and help local companies sell their stuff worldwide. The province is a gaming giant, pulling in KRW6 trillion in revenue and hosting 40% of Korea’s game companies in Pangyo Techno Valley. Big names like Nexon, NCsoft, Kakao Games, and Smilegate call it home. The Gyeonggi Pavilion at TCCF will feature seven smaller animation and character IP-based content companies. These include Universe Design, Eunhu Holdings, Studio W. Baba, Pixtrend, Whyj Contents, HSWorks, and TIME FIXER. They'll each show off their original content and IP. HSWorks and Eunhu Holdings will pitch their stuff in English at TCCF’s Pitching Showcase. Eunhu is known for linking merchandise to media content and is working on an original movie. HSWorks, or Handsome Studio, creates content for kids and adults, mixing Korean culture with modern twists. Their “Kokdu Mate” is a great example, blending tradition with tourist souvenirs. The GCA's president, Tark Yong Seok, hopes this will boost Gyeonggi companies' competitiveness in Taiwan and Asia, grow their global networks, and increase overseas exports. TCCF is just one stop in a whole series of promotional events for the GCA. They’ve just been at Mipcom in France and are heading to ATF in Singapore next month. While in Taiwan, they’ll also visit local companies to scope out more opportunities. So, Taiwan, get ready. Gyeonggi's creative invasion is on its way!
