Hanahan Middle School: A Big Change is Coming
Murray Drive, Hanahan, USATue Mar 18 2025
Hanahan Middle School is about to get a major upgrade. The Berkeley County School District is excited to start building a brand new facility. This is a huge deal because it's the first big change in decades.
The new school will be almost 83, 000 square feet. That's a lot of space for new classrooms and even a gym. Plus, they're adding more parking and a side street for buses. This will make getting to and from school much easier.
The project was supposed to cost $100 million. But, with some smart planning, they managed to cut that down to $48 million. That's a big savings and a smart move. It shows that with careful planning, big projects can be more affordable. This is a great lesson for anyone planning a big project.
The new building will keep some old traditions. The old school bell will be reinstalled. This is a nice touch. It shows that while things are changing, some things stay the same. It's important to honor the past while looking to the future.
The school is set to be finished by June 2026. That's a few years away, but it's coming. Students, teachers, and the community are all looking forward to it. It's a chance for a fresh start and new opportunities. It's also a chance to think about how schools can change and grow over time. What do you think makes a good school? Is it just about the building, or is it about the people and the programs too?
