Harris Needs to Show She's in Charge of Her Campaign
Atlanta, USASat Sep 28 2024
When it comes to winning over undecided voters, it's crucial for vice president Kamala Harris to project an image of strength and decisiveness. In 2008, Barack Obama's campaign did just that by showcasing him in everyday presidential settings. They put him in charge of economic advisor meetings, had him deliver his party nomination acceptance speech in front of a White House backdrop, and even created a 30-minute ad where he addressed the nation from the Oval Office. By doing so, they created an image of him as the man in charge, and it worked.
Fast-forward to 2024, and Harris is in a tight race with a small but influential number of undecided voters remaining unconvinced. Her campaign needs to take a page from Obama's playbook and show her in charge. It's not enough to simply argue that her opponent would be a disaster; she needs to present herself as a strong leader with a clear plan for the future.
For Harris to achieve this, her campaign needs to focus on two key areas. First, they need to saturate areas with easy-to-grasp policy points in microdoses. This could be done through billboards, six-second preroll ads, or social media posts that outline her policy plans in a clear and concise manner. Second, they need to put her in everyday presidential settings, showcasing her leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
Imagine Harris chairing meetings, signing pledges, and calling in leaders from key constituencies to discuss the needs of various areas of the country. By doing so, she'll be able to project an image of strength and decisiveness, and show undecided voters that she's ready to take on the role of chief executive.
