Harvey Weinstein Faces Life Threats Beyond Courtroom

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, famously accused of sexual assault and recently indicted by a grand jury, is dealing with a new battle: bone marrow cancer. NBC News reported that Weinstein is receiving treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia while in Rikers Island prison. This type of cancer affects the bone marrow, causing it to produce too many white blood cells, usually in people over middle age. Weinstein’s representatives didn’t comment on the report, citing privacy concerns.
Before this diagnosis, Weinstein underwent emergency heart surgery just a month ago. His reps said he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital from Rikers due to various medical issues. He's also been treated for COVID-19, pneumonia, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other conditions like spinal stenosis and fluid buildup in his heart and lungs.
