Hatboro Honors a Community Hero Turning 103

Hatboro, PA, has a legend named Fred Powell who's about to hit the big 103! At a recent borough council meeting, Mayor Tim Schultz presented him with a special proclamation. The mayor thanked Fred for his decades of work at Powell’s Electric, a business his father and great-uncle started in 1922. Fred joined the family business after serving in the Army. He took over the reins in the 1950s and expanded the company, which sold electric appliances and offered electrical upgrades. In 1990, he handed the business to his son, Doug, who renamed it Powell’s Electric Service. This family-owned business has been a trusted name in Hatboro and neighboring communities for generations. As full-service electrical contractors, they handle small home repairs to big commercial installations. Fred’s dedication has made Powell’s Electric a well-known name, contributing greatly to the community.
