Tokyo, JapanSun Apr 20 2025
Fans of the Star Wars universe were in for a pleasant surprise. Hayden Christensen, known for his role as the troubled young Jedi turned dark lord Anakin Skywalker, will be back for the second season of "Ahsoka. "
The news broke during the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. It was a panel discussion featuring Rosario Dawson, the show's creator Dave Filoni, and executive producer Jon Favreau. Christensen joined them on stage at the very end of the panel and dropped the bombshell. He said there was not much he could reveal, but he confirmed that Anakin would indeed be returning for the second season.
This isn't Christensen's first rodeo in the Star Wars universe. He first stepped into the role of Anakin Skywalker way back in 2002 with "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. " He reprised the role in 2005's "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. "He also appeared in the Disney+ series "Obi-Wan Kenobi, " playing both Anakin Skywalker and his alter ego, Darth Vader. He also had a brief appearance in the first season of "Ahsoka. "
During the same event, Filoni talked about his plans for Anakin's story. He made it clear that he respects the work of George Lucas, the original creator of the Star Wars universe. Filoni said that Lucas's story of Anakin is complete and perfect as it is. He also said that he doesn't plan to add or change anything to it. Instead, he wants to focus on Ahsoka's story. He believes that Anakin can be part of it because of his connection to her.
This news is sure to excite fans of the Star Wars universe. It will be interesting to see how Christensen's return will impact the story of "Ahsoka. "It's also a great opportunity for Filoni to explore the complex relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin. It will be intriguing to see how he balances respect for the original story with the need to move the new narrative forward. It's a delicate act, but Filoni seems up to the task.
