Health Help Gaps in Worker Survey

Large U.S. healthcare system, United StatesThu Oct 22 2026
A team studied workplace health support. The team asked who used it. They watched hospital staff. Many were low or middle income. The study was in a big US health system. It was in 2018. The team asked 1,283 workers. 1,196 gave final data. That was 93.2 percent. The team used a survey. It was a cross section study. They wanted to learn about use and causes. The team saw patterns.

The team found most workers used two kinds of help. One kind gave tools or support. One kind gave facts or info. Older workers used more info help. Black workers used more tool help. The work setting was tied to healthy eating and activity help. The tie was small. Age, race, and setting stayed important.

The team checked pay, race, age, shift, sex, weight, setting, and support. It used math and models. It tested mixed effects. Small mixed effects showed up. Setting and race mixed in total and info models. Setting and sex mixed in total model. The team split help types apart. That helped show clear gaps.
