Most people in the U. S. are content with their health insurance. A recent survey shows that 82% of adults are satisfied with their coverage. Older adults, in particular, are very happy, with 90% expressing satisfaction. Those on Medicare and Medicaid are also quite pleased, with about 9 in 10 saying they are satisfied.
However, not everyone is happy. Nearly a quarter of respondents reported being denied or delayed coverage in the past two years. This issue is more common among younger adults, with just under a quarter of those under 45 expressing dissatisfaction. College graduates and political independents also share this sentiment.
Women face more challenges than men when it comes to insurance coverage. They are six points more likely to report delays or denials. Those with private insurance are slightly more likely to experience these issues compared to those with public insurance.
The survey also looked at opinions on the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. Opinions are divided, with 46% wanting to keep it and 24% wanting to repeal it. Democrats and younger adults are more likely to support keeping it, while Republicans and older men are more inclined to repeal it.
Health insurance costs are a big issue heading into the 2026 midterm elections. The survey found that 57% of respondents trust the Democratic Party to handle this issue, compared to 43% who trust the Republican Party. Women overall trust the Democratic Party more, while men are evenly split.
The survey highlights the complexities of health care in the U. S. While many are satisfied with their coverage, issues like denials and delays add to the ongoing debate. As costs continue to rise, the conversation around health care and affordability is more important than ever.
